The default configuration of Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003 SP3, SharePoint Server 2007 SP3 and 2010 SP1 and SP2, and Office Web Apps 2010 does not set the EnableViewStateMac attribute, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by leveraging an unassigned workflow, aka "MAC Disabled Vulnerability."
The weakness was shared 09/10/2013 by Alexandre Herzog with Compass Security Network Computing (CSNC) as MS13-067 as confirmed bulletin (Microsoft Technet). The advisory is shared at technet.microsoft.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-1330 since 01/12/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71320 (MS13-105: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2915705)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 74271 (Microsoft Exchange Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (MS13-105)).
Applying the patch MS13-067 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
