A Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in Fortinet FortiOS versions 5.2.0 through 5.2.11 and 5.4.0 through 5.4.4 allows attackers to execute unauthorized code or commands via the "Groups" input while creating or editing User Groups.
The bug was discovered 06/15/2017. The weakness was disclosed 06/15/2017 with Walmart's ISD Enterprise Security Testing Team as FG-IR-17-127 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at fortiguard.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-7735 since 04/12/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
