The nullfs implementation in sys/fs/nullfs/null_vnops.c in the kernel in FreeBSD 8.3 through 9.2 allows local users with certain permissions to bypass access restrictions via a hardlink in a nullfs instance to a file in a different instance.
The weakness was presented 09/10/2013 by Konstantin Belousov as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-5710 since 09/06/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
