Logstash prior to version 2.1.2, the CSV output can be attacked via engineered input that will create malicious formulas in the CSV data.
The bug was discovered 02/02/2016. The weakness was presented 06/16/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at elastic.co. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-1000222 since 09/12/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.
