Logstash versions prior to 2.3.3, when using the Netflow Codec plugin, a remote attacker crafting malicious Netflow v5, Netflow v9 or IPFIX packets could perform a denial of service attack on the Logstash instance. The errors resulting from these crafted inputs are not handled by the codec and can cause the Logstash process to exit.
The bug was discovered 09/22/2016. The weakness was published 06/16/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at elastic.co. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-10363 since 05/02/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
