A vulnerability was found in OpenVPN (Network Encryption Software) (the affected version unknown). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function extract_x509_extension of the file ssl_verify_openssl.c. The manipulation of the argument fieldname with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. OpenVPN versions before 2.4.3 and before 2.3.17 are vulnerable to remote denial-of-service due to memory exhaustion caused by memory leaks and double-free issue in extract_x509_extension().
