Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the file /cgi-bin/admin/downloadMedias.cgi of the component Web Service. The manipulation with the input value .. leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. '/cgi-bin/admin/downloadMedias.cgi' of the web service in most of the VIVOTEK Network Cameras is vulnerable, which allows remote attackers to read any file on the camera's Linux filesystem via a crafted HTTP request containing ".." sequences. This vulnerability is already verified on VIVOTEK Network Camera IB8369/FD8164/FD816BA; most others have similar firmware that may be affected.
