A vulnerability was found in Code42 CrashPlan 5.4.x. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function org.apache.commons.ssl.rmi.DateRMI of the component RMI Server. Remote Code Execution is possible in Code42 CrashPlan 5.4.x via the org.apache.commons.ssl.rmi.DateRMI Java class, because (upon instantiation) it creates an RMI server that listens on a TCP port and deserializes objects sent by TCP clients.
The bug was discovered 02/15/2018. The weakness was presented 06/27/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at blog.radicallyopensecurity.com.
