A vulnerability was found in GraphicsMagick 1.3.25 (Image Processing Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function ReadDPXImage of the file coders/dpx.c of the component DPX Image Handler. The manipulation of the argument width as part of a Metadata leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. When GraphicsMagick 1.3.25 processes a DPX image (with metadata indicating a large width) in coders/dpx.c, a denial of service (OOM) can occur in ReadDPXImage().
The bug was discovered 07/06/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/03/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at hg.code.sf.net.
