A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in XnView Classic 2.40 on Windows (Image Processing Software). This affects an unknown code block of the file XnView.exe of the component MKV File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. XnView Classic for Windows Version 2.40 allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute code via a crafted .mkv file that is mishandled during the opening of a directory in "Browser" mode, because of a "User Mode Write AV near NULL" in XnView.exe.
