TrustWave, a trusted root CA, has issued, and subsequently revoked, a sub-CA certificate from one of its trusted anchors. This sub-CA facilitated the interception of communications secured by Transport Layer Security (TLS). This update added the involved sub-CA certificate to OS X's list of untrusted certificates.This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-5134. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
Upgrading to version iOS 7.0 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
