Details
A vulnerability was found in Etherpad up to 1.1.1. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file node/utils/Minify.js of the component HTTP API Request Handler. The manipulation of the argument path with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in node/utils/Minify.js in Etherpad 1.1.1 through 1.5.2 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by leveraging replacement of backslashes with slashes in the path parameter of HTTP API requests.
