A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 6.1.4 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been declared as critical. The mach_port_space_info function in osfmk/ipc/mach_debug.c in the XNU kernel in Apple Mac OS X 10.8.x does not initialize a certain structure member, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel heap memory via a crafted call.
The weakness was published 09/18/2013 by Stefan Esser as APPLE-SA-2013-09-18-2 iOS 7 as confirmed mailinglist post (Website). The advisory is available at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-3953 since 06/05/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
