The ReadXWDImage function in coders\xwd.c in ImageMagick 7.0.5-6 has a memory leak vulnerability that can cause memory exhaustion via a crafted length (number of color-map entries) field in the header of an XWD file.

The bug was discovered 05/04/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/10/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-11166 since 07/10/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
