A vulnerability has been found in Apple iOS up to 6.1.4 (Smartphone Operating System) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Safari. Mobile Safari in Apple iOS before 7 does not prevent HTML interpretation of a document served with a text/plain content type, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks by uploading a file.
The weakness was published 09/18/2013 by Ben Toews with Github as APPLE-SA-2013-09-18-2 iOS 7 as confirmed mailinglist post (Website). The advisory is shared at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-5151 since 08/15/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
