A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 6.1.4 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been declared as critical. The Sandbox subsystem in Apple iOS before 7 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via an application that writes crafted values to /dev/random.
The weakness was presented 09/18/2013 with CESG as APPLE-SA-2013-09-18-2 iOS 7 as confirmed mailinglist post (Website). The advisory is shared for download at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-5155 since 08/15/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
