A vulnerability was found in Anti-virus Kaspersky Anti-virus up to 8.0.4. (Anti-Malware Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function action of the component Web Interface. The manipulation of the argument reportId as part of a Parameter leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The reportId parameter of the getReportStatus action method can be abused in the web interface in Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server before Maintenance Pack 2 Critical Fix 4 (version 8.0.4.312) to read arbitrary files with kluser privileges.
The bug was discovered 06/28/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/17/2017 by Core Security with Core Security Consulting Services as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-9812 since 06/22/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
A public exploit has been developed by Core Security and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 19 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
