Perl might allow context-dependent attackers to bypass the taint protection mechanism in a child process via duplicate environment variables in envp.
The bug was discovered 03/01/2016. The weakness was published 07/19/2017 as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2017 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oracle.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-2381 since 02/13/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
