A vulnerability was found in Appserver up to 1.0.2. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Web Interface. The manipulation with the input value .. leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the web request/response interface in Appserver before 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to read normally inaccessible files via a .. (dot dot) in a crafted URL.
The bug was discovered 03/31/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/25/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at appserver.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-1847 since 02/17/2015.
