Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in QPDF 6.0.0. Affected is the function QPDFTokenizer::resolveLiteral of the file QPDFTokenizer.cc of the component libqpdf. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. A stack-consumption vulnerability was found in libqpdf in QPDF 6.0.0, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted file, related to the QPDFTokenizer::resolveLiteral function in QPDFTokenizer.cc after four consecutive calls to QPDFObjectHandle::parseInternal, aka an "infinite loop."
The bug was discovered 06/04/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/25/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at somevulnsofadlab.blogspot.jp. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-11626 since 07/25/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
