A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Artifex Ghostscript GhostXPS 9.22 (Document Processing Software). This issue affects the function xps_load_sfnt_name of the file xps/xpsfont.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The xps_load_sfnt_name function in xps/xpsfont.c in Artifex Ghostscript GhostXPS 9.22 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (buffer overflow and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted document.
The bug was discovered 07/25/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/26/2017 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.ghostscript.com.
