A vulnerability was found in VMware vCenter Server 6.5 (Server Management Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file /tmp of the component libDeployPkg. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. VMware Tools prior to 10.0.9 contains multiple file system races in libDeployPkg, related to the use of hard-coded paths under /tmp. Successful exploitation of this issue may result in a local privilege escalation.

The bug was discovered 07/27/2017. The weakness was released 07/27/2017 as VMSA-2017-0013 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is available at vmware.com.
