A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 2.0 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function vc1_decode_frame of the file libavcodec/vc1dec.c of the component Initialization Handler. The manipulation as part of a MPEG Video leads to a unknown weakness. The impact remains unknown.
The issue has been introduced in 07/11/2013. The weakness was shared 09/22/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as vc1dec: Undo mpegvideo initialization if unable to allocate tables as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.libav.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The exploitability is told to be difficult.
