A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in ImageMagick 7.0.6-1 (Image Processing Software). This issue affects the function ReadWMFImage of the file coders/wmf.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. In ImageMagick 7.0.6-1, a memory leak vulnerability was found in the function ReadWMFImage in coders/wmf.c, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service in CloneDrawInfo in draw.c.
The bug was discovered 07/08/2017. The weakness was published 08/04/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-12428 since 08/04/2017. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
