A vulnerability has been found in SLiMS 8 Akasia up to 8.3.1 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the file admin/help.php. The manipulation of the argument url with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. SLiMS 8 Akasia through 8.3.1 has an arbitrary file reading issue because of directory traversal in the url parameter to admin/help.php. It can be exploited by remote authenticated librarian users.
The bug was discovered 05/26/2017. The weakness was presented 08/06/2017 (GitHub Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com.
