The ".encfs6.xml" configuration file in encfs before 1.7.5 allows remote attackers to access sensitive data by setting "blockMACBytes" to 0 and adding 8 to "blockMACRandBytes".
The bug was discovered 05/14/2014. The weakness was shared 08/07/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-3462 since 05/14/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
