HashiCorp Vagrant VMware Fusion plugin (aka vagrant-vmware-fusion) before 4.0.24 uses weak permissions for the sudo helper scripts, allows local users to execute arbitrary code with root privileges by overwriting one of the scripts.
The bug was discovered 08/02/2017. The weakness was shared 08/08/2017 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-11741 since 07/29/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1211 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
