A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in strongSwan up to 5.5.x (Network Encryption Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component gmp Plugin. The manipulation as part of a RSA Signature leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The gmp plugin in strongSwan before 5.6.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via a crafted RSA signature.
The bug was discovered 08/14/2017. The weakness was released 08/18/2017 by OSS-Fuzz (Website). The advisory is available at strongswan.org.
