A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Exiv2 0.26 (Image Processing Software). Affected by this issue is the function Exiv2::Image::io of the file image.cpp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is availability. There is a heap-based buffer over-read in libexiv2 in Exiv2 0.26 that is triggered in the Exiv2::Image::io function in image.cpp. It will lead to remote denial of service.
The bug was discovered 08/17/2017. The weakness was disclosed 08/18/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com.
