A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in GraphicsMagick 1.3.26 (Image Processing Software). This issue affects the function ReadXBMImage of the file coders/xbm.c. GraphicsMagick 1.3.26 has a denial of service issue in ReadXBMImage() in a coders/xbm.c "Read hex image data" version!=10 case that results in the reader not returning; it would cause large amounts of CPU and memory consumption although the crafted file itself does not request it.
The bug was discovered 08/30/2017. The weakness was disclosed 08/30/2017 by Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared at hg.code.sf.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-13776 since 08/30/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
