QEMU (aka Quick Emulator), when built with the VGA display emulator support, allows local guest OS privileged users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and QEMU process crash) via vectors involving display update.
The bug was discovered 08/30/2017. The weakness was disclosed 09/01/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-13672 since 08/24/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a authentication.
