A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Palo Alto PAN-OS up to 6.1.17/7.0.16/7.1.11/8.0.2 (Firewall Software). This affects an unknown function of the component GlobalProtect Interface. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The bug was discovered 08/31/2017. The weakness was presented 08/31/2017 by Sonal Shrivastava with PayPal as PAN-76003 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at securityadvisories.paloaltonetworks.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Palo Alto. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-12416 since 08/03/2017. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
