Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in PHP up to 4.3.10/5.0.3 (Programming Language Software). Affected is the function addslashes. The manipulation with the input value \0 leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The deserialization code in PHP before 4.3.10 and PHP 5.x up to 5.0.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and execute arbitrary code via untrusted data to the unserialize function that may trigger "information disclosure, double-free and negative reference index array underflow" results.
The bug was discovered 12/15/2004. The weakness was disclosed 12/16/2004 by Stefan Esser with PHP Team (Website). The advisory is available at php.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2004-1019 since 11/04/2004. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known.
