A vulnerability was found in TYPO3 up to 7.6.21/8.7.4 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file sysext/core/Classes/Core/SystemEnvironmentBuilder.php of the component File Upload. Unrestricted File Upload vulnerability in the fileDenyPattern in sysext/core/Classes/Core/SystemEnvironmentBuilder.php in TYPO3 7.6.0 to 7.6.21 and 8.0.0 to 8.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to upload files with a .pht extension and consequently execute arbitrary PHP code.
The bug was discovered 09/05/2017. The weakness was published 09/11/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at typo3.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-14251 since 09/10/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
