Details
A vulnerability was found in Jungo WinDriver up to 12.4.0 (Hardware Driver Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the component Kernel Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-787. The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on Jungo WinDriver 12.4.0 and earlier. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the processing of IOCTL 0x953824a7 by the windrvr1240 kernel driver. The issue lies in the failure to properly validate user-supplied data which can result in an out-of-bounds write condition. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code under the context of kernel.
The bug was discovered 09/06/2017. The weakness was shared 09/11/2017 as EDB-ID 42625 as not defined exploit (Exploit-DB). The advisory is shared at exploit-db.com.
