properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
The Windows Hyper-V component on Microsoft Windows 10 1607 and Windows Server 2016 allows a denial of service vulnerability when it fails to properly validate input from an authenticated user on a guest operating system, aka "Hyper-V Denial of Service Vulnerability".
The bug was discovered 09/12/2017. The weakness was published 09/12/2017 by Jordan Rabet with Offensive Security as KB4038782 as confirmed security update guide (Website). The advisory is shared for download at portal.msrc.microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-8704 since 05/03/2017. The exploitability is told to be difficult. The attack needs to be approached locally. A authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The advisory points out:
A denial of service vulnerability exists when Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual PCI on a host server fails to properly validate input from a privileged user on a guest operating system. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker who already has a privileged account on a guest operating system, running as a virtual machine, could run a specially crafted application that causes a host machine to crash.
