The bug was discovered 09/12/2017. The weakness was disclosed 09/12/2017 with Zero Day Initiative as KB4039384 as confirmed security update guide (Website). An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in Windows when the Win32k component fails to properly handle objects in memory. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code in kernel mode. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.
