A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Cisco ASA 8.4(2)/8.6(1.2) (Firewall Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component AnyConnect SSL VPN Client. The manipulation as part of a Disconnection leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software 8.4.x before 8.4(3) and 8.6.x before 8.6(1.3) does not properly manage memory upon an AnyConnect SSL VPN client disconnection, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption, and forwarding outage or system hang) via packets to the disconnected machine s IP address, aka Bug ID CSCtt36737.
The weakness was presented 10/09/2013 as cisco-sa-20131009-asa as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-3415 since 05/06/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation.
