A vulnerability has been found in Ruby up to 2.2.8/2.3.4/2.4.0 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. The Basic authentication code in WEBrick library in Ruby before 2.2.8, 2.3.x before 2.3.5, and 2.4.x through 2.4.1 allows remote attackers to inject terminal emulator escape sequences into its log and possibly execute arbitrary commands via a crafted user name.
The bug was discovered 09/15/2015. The weakness was presented 09/19/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securitytracker.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-10784 since 07/01/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
