In all Qualcomm products with Android releases from CAF using the Linux kernel, in the function msm_dba_register_client, if the client registers failed, it would be freed. However the client was not removed from list. Use-after-free would occur when traversing the list next time.
The bug was discovered 09/05/2017. The weakness was presented 09/21/2017 by Alibaba with Qihoo 360 (Website). The advisory is available at source.android.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-8277 since 04/25/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
