Proxy command injection vulnerabilities in Trend Micro Mobile Security (Enterprise) versions before 9.7 Patch 3 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations.
The bug was discovered 09/15/2017. The weakness was disclosed 09/22/2017 by Steven Seeley (mr_me) with Offensive Security (Website). The advisory is shared at success.trendmicro.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-14081 since 08/31/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 7 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 87302 (Trend Micro Mobile Security (Enterprise) Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Applying the patch 9.7 Patch 3 is able to eliminate this problem.
