A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Opentext Documentum Administrator 7.2.0180.0055. This issue affects an unknown part of the file xda/help/en/default.htm. The manipulation of the argument redirectUrl as part of a Parameter leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Multiple open redirect vulnerabilities in OpenText Documentum Administrator 7.2.0180.0055 allow remote attackers to redirect users to arbitrary web sites and conduct phishing attacks via a (1) URL in the startat parameter to xda/help/en/default.htm or (2) /%09/ (slash encoded horizontal tab slash) followed by a domain in the redirectUrl parameter to xda/component/virtuallinkconnect.
The bug was discovered 09/24/2017. The weakness was released 09/28/2017 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-14524 since 09/17/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1204.001 for this issue.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 3 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:xda/help/en/default.htm it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
