A vulnerability has been found in F5 BIG-IP up to 13.0.0 (Firewall Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component iControl REST Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session expiration vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-613. According to WASC, "Insufficient Session Expiration is when a web site permits an attacker to reuse old session credentials or session IDs for authorization." As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

iControl REST in F5 BIG-IP LTM, AAM, AFM, Analytics, APM, ASM, DNS, Link Controller, PEM, and WebSafe 12.0.0 through 12.1.2 and 13.0.0 includes a service to convert authorization BIGIPAuthCookie cookies to X-F5-Auth-Token tokens. This service does not properly re-validate cookies when making that conversion, allowing once-valid but now expired cookies to be converted to valid tokens.

The bug was discovered 07/19/2017. The weakness was published 10/20/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at support.f5.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-6145 since 02/21/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
