The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370625 (Apple macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, Security Update 2017-001 Sierra, and Security Update 2017-004 El Capitan Not Installed).
Upgrading to version 10.13.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
