A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 4.13.5 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. The snd_usb_create_streams function in sound/usb/card.c in the Linux kernel before 4.13.6 allows local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via crafted system calls.
The bug was discovered 09/22/2017. The weakness was disclosed 11/04/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-16529 since 11/03/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. A single authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
