An Untrusted Pointer Dereference issue was discovered in Advantech WebAccess versions prior to V8.2_20170817. A remote attacker is able to execute code to dereference a pointer within the program causing the application to become unavailable.
The bug was discovered 11/02/2017. The weakness was presented 11/06/2017 by Steven Seeley (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-12719 since 08/09/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
