The bug was discovered 10/31/2017. The weakness was disclosed 11/13/2017 as HT208219 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-13852 since 08/30/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. Upgrading to version 10.13.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
