Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Debian pg_ctlcluster, pg_createcluster, and pg_upgradecluster scripts, as distributed in the Debian postgresql-common package before 181+deb9u1 for PostgreSQL (and other packages related to Debian and Ubuntu), handled symbolic links insecurely, which could result in local denial of service by overwriting arbitrary files.
The bug was discovered 11/09/2017. The weakness was shared 11/13/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at metadata.ftp-master.debian.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-8806 since 05/07/2017. The attack needs to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
