Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in YARD up to 0.9.10. Affected is an unknown functionality in the library lib/yard/core_ext/file.rb. The manipulation with the input value ../ leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
lib/yard/core_ext/file.rb in the server in YARD before 0.9.11 does not block relative paths with an initial ../ sequence, which allows attackers to conduct directory traversal attacks and read arbitrary files.
