Apple watchOS up to 4.1 Wi-Fi KRACK 7pk security

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

The summary by CVE is:

Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2) allows reinstallation of the Group Temporal Key (GTK) during the group key handshake, allowing an attacker within radio range to replay frames from access points to clients.

The bug was discovered 10/16/2017. The weakness was published 12/05/2017 by Mathy Vanhoef as HT208325 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-13080 since 08/22/2017. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1211 for this issue. The advisory points out:

A logic issue existed in the handling of state transitions. This was addressed with improved state management.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 103917 (SUSE SLED12 / SLES12 Security Update : wpa_supplicant (SUSE-SU-2017:2745-1) (KRACK)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 176821 (Debian Security Update for firmware-nonfree (DLA 1573-1)).

Upgrading to version 4.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
